|
|
I have done a little searching and I come up with 90 amps for the stock alty on 98 TJ's. Can anyone confirm this number? I'm not looking for a lecture on SAE amp ratings, just wondering what the SAE rating is.
(I am aware of the rating system, and the fact that a 90 amp alty does not produce nearly what it's rated for.) _________________ Dirty Red is a 1998 4 cyl, 5 spd w/ 33" Truxus MT's and 5" of lift. |

Somewhere I read that standard on a 97 was around 80 and 115 on sports and saharas. I'm trying to find it and I'm not sure if that changed with the 98's. _________________ Nothing to see here. |

I know it was an option on 2001s to go with the higher, not sure what the higher was though, but I got it _________________ Just damn happy to have my Jeep back, it's been a long time! |

That sounds familiar for mine, 117.. But it was an option on 01s and I think on 02s, X, Sport, Sahara, it was standard... _________________ Just damn happy to have my Jeep back, it's been a long time! |

Actually, the outputs are truthful. The problem is that it's required to be spinning at nearly 8,000rpms to obtain it. At Idle, expect about 10-15a. You can chart it out from there..
On Ebay, there is a seller doing 160a versions for Jeeps at $99 each. I think minimum output begins at 80 amps.
The OEM specs sound right.. 85 & 117 _________________ I love the moderators just like my 4 banger!
