I need to make up some XJ rock rails. I need one to use as a model.

You would get a very cost effective set of rock rails (most likely tubing) out of the deal.

Also anyone know that diff between 2 and 4 door as far as mounting would go

Dan

Where are you mounting them to? The frame rails? If so it should not matter.....

Oh yea....once you get a prototype made up, consider a set sold....I'll take one off yer hands, I've seen the stuff you build.

In that case, there should not be a difference in where they mount up between the 2 and 4 door.

One thing to consider though (just in case you haven't)...if your going to use the LCA mounts, is there an engine skid already tied in there... With a rock rail and an engine skid on opposite sides of the LCA mounts, that bolt could get real short real fast...

Just something to think about....

Dan, would you be interested in building Xterra rock rails? I know a buddy who I just might be able to talk into a set. I'm pretty sure they have real frames also...not this unibody stuff found on XJs...so it should make mounting them a lot easier. Not to mention I know he wants to ditch those crappy step rails for something a lot beefier.

Dan.. Also might want to consider welding some small angle on the arms so that you could attatch the rails to the pinch welds as well.. I have Kevins rock sliders and they are super tough .. They attatch to the frame.(HAHAHAHAHA) and to the pinch weld with self tapping screws.. 1/2 X 3/4 long for frame and 1/4X 3/4 for pinch weld. Just trying to help..
