|
|
I need to buy a new radiator for the ole YJ and for thirty more bucks I can get a three row instead of the stock two row. Whatcha guys think? Is it really worth it or am I just fooling myself? I don't plan on dropping in a V8 any time soon and I never had any overheating problems with the two row. I know the three row would be beneficial for long grueling wheeling adventures which I plan on taking quite a few this summer. Just wanted to see if you guys had any opinions on the matter. Thanks. _________________ 95 YJ, 4.0, 5 speed, 4.5 RE Lift, 33x12.5 BFG MT's, Ford 8.8, JB Conversions SYE and some neato LED lights I just put in! |

my understanding is that you will run at a lower temp but I don't know the real benefits of that. a buddy with an 88 has a 3 row and he runs at like 160 but as far as I know he hasn't gained much of anything else.... I'd wait to get an answer from someone else here though cause I am dumb _________________ LISTEN TO BLACK SABBATH

I'd think of it like this.....
$30 is damn cheap insurance for better/more cooling for your engine.

I decided to just go ahead with the two row. I really don't think that I'll ever really have any problems with overheating and I've never really heard of people needing to upgrade their radiator unless they had some serious mods done to the Jeep and worked the engine more than usual. Thanks for the replies.
PS - You guys wouldn't be interested in a writeup would you? I would think that something as simple as this wouldn't really need one but I'm more than willing to do it if someone is interested. _________________ 95 YJ, 4.0, 5 speed, 4.5 RE Lift, 33x12.5 BFG MT's, Ford 8.8, JB Conversions SYE and some neato LED lights I just put in! |

Actually, That would be great. I'm trying to develop write-ups for the tech pages covering basic stuff just like that. _________________ Nothing to see here. |

Alright, well I took pictures of the removal but I'm still waiting for the radiator to come tomorrow. I must say that Radiatorbarn.com has by far the best prices that I could find anywhere. Autozone wanted $300 for a replacement two row. What's up with that? I even got free shipping and a five dollar online discount as well. The shipping is also one day for the St. Louis area so I really couldn't be happier with myself. To bad I ordered it on a Sunday.
BTW - How do we post pictures now that imagestation doesn't allow linking from their site? _________________ 95 YJ, 4.0, 5 speed, 4.5 RE Lift, 33x12.5 BFG MT's, Ford 8.8, JB Conversions SYE and some neato LED lights I just put in! |

Sent you a PM.
Also, something I picked up somewhere, cut a piece of cardboard to the same width as the radiator and put it between the it and the shroud to protect the fins when you slide it into place. _________________ Nothing to see here. |

Thanks for the tip, I remember seeing that on a write up for a radiator replacement on a TJ. I'm expecting to get the radiator today so I'll have the writeup done by tonight. (As long as they deliver the radiator when they said they would. ) _________________ 95 YJ, 4.0, 5 speed, 4.5 RE Lift, 33x12.5 BFG MT's, Ford 8.8, JB Conversions SYE and some neato LED lights I just put in! |
