Well it might just be cheaper to fly up there and drive down. Probably could do it in two lazy days or maybe one really long one. Don't know, we have never driven to Indiana.

After my parents signed everything off for me I could go up there and drive back... hmm.

I have a feeling though that once I show the guy we know who owns this one Chrysler-Jeep dealership the JeepWarehouse.com price, he may give us invoice. My father tells me he is a nice guy.

personally, i think your putting way to much thought into it. you decided jeep. nice choice. you decided wrangler. perfect choice. So now go find a nice used one.
i'm on my first jeep too. i bought it used a little over a year ago and I love it. just get something fairly basic (i've got the se). Personalize it to your own style. if you like chrome, make it bling-bling-bling. If you get a nice, used base or sport model youll have a nice amount to sink into it. And trust me, as soon as you get it you're gonna fall into the pit of never ending mods.

ps. go with the I6.

good luck thumbs

I6 is a definite.

Part of the reason it is taking so long is that I'm having a bit of trouble transferring some money from my stockbroker...won't go into that. A pain.

Also, the dealer is reluctant for me to buy anything but what they have on the lot, which is not much. They have some nice Rubis, two of them, but in Red and Yellow... where's the love?

I feel like most of the idiots there buy the Rubicons from this dealership due to the logo...

What happened with JeepWarehouse? Who cares what the dealer wants to sell you...order it from someone who'll get you exactly what you want.

I'm personally a bit reluctant to buy it off the internet. I know my parents do not wish to. They are paying half so I can't control that.

I'm interested also in the Unlimited but the dealer still doesn't have one.

You actually don't order the vehicle over the internet. All the business stuff is done over the phone or through fax/snail mail. You could buy a vehicle locally the same way. Any dealer can special order a vehicle for you....whether it's an Unlimited, Rubicon, Sport, SE, whatever. If you're dealing with one that doesn't want to do that, leave. If they can't earn your business in such a simple manner, don't give it to them.

I still don't think a brand new Jeep is the smartest buy for you though. Honestly. From someone who was involved in accidents with 4-5 different vehicles, get something that won't be a total waste of money when it gets smacked up...because it will happen.

You've been in how many accidents and you're how old? Shocked
Sorry dude, but loaning you my jeep is out of the question. Finger
It doesn't take an act of god to order a new vehicle and if a dealership isn't willing to do it, walk away. I have to agree with ehirner though, I'd look for something used.

I was young. Wasn't really paying attention. I've learned my lesson though...and I think driving a manual has really helped draw my attention to driving and not other stuff. All of my accidents were situation where I was rushing myself and wasn't paying attention.

Look, you are sixteen! I too had a trust fund set up for me and I could buy just about any car that I wanted at 16. Instead I took my mom's old caddy. I was 16 driving a pimp car. When that car blew up my senior year, I went from Christmas to summer with out a car. Having to borrow one from my parents. Finally I had to buy a car. I bought a jeep. Always wanted one, could afford it. Now it was just finding the right one, I found it and bought it. USED. My point is, I couls transfer funds from my stocks, but I hate spending money. So instead I saved up and bought a used one instead of paying over 20k for one. I wished that I got the i6, but that was before I found any jeep message boards.

Oh, I thought our friend Marlin was saying he'd been in 4 or 5 accidents in the short time he's been driving. Yeah, when I think back to when I was 16 and how I drove, I wouldn't buy (or have my parents buy) myself any kind of new vehicle. I didn't know what I was doing simply because I was inexperienced. And I especially wouldn't buy anything like a brand new jeep that I would be banging around offroad. If I had tried doing some of the driving we do now, I have no doubt I would've banged up my nice new jeep and been quite upset.

The dealership, I think, has gotten some Unlimiteds in so I will go down there to look tonight soon.

I don't drive wild. I drive very carefully... always at or under the speed limit and always watching for other cars. I was taught to be a defensive driver and I am.

Nothing is wrong with buying a new vehicle. Considering I'm paying half of it, I don't know if I'd want a used vehicle.

I'm liking the Jeep Unlimited... it seems more suited to the frequent town driving I'd be doing tons of. Also, D44 standard! And cheaper than a loaded Sahara/Rubicon. The extra space is awesome. And it doesn't look too shabby with the hard top in my opinion.

dancing banana

Uh. Alright. Saw the Unlimited last night and it's really nice looking. Also saw a blue jeep for the first time in person(the dealership never orders blue for some reason).

So pending haggling with the dealership I'm getting a blue Unlimited.

Okay. I'm dead set on a Blue Unlimited.

This is what I want with it:

Hard Top
Seven Speakers with Subwoofer and Tweeters
Auto-Dimming Mirror w/Map Lamps, Temp and Compass(I love this thing)
Front Carpeted Floor Mats
Sentry Key Engine Immobilizer Theft-Deterrent
Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel

And.... you guys are going to kill me on this one...

Bodyside Steps upyours

Initially, folks. Meaning... I'll probably have them for 6-7 months, or until whenever I want to invest in lifting it up and slapping some 33s on it. Then I may or may not keep them, but then it would matter less due to the higher breakover angle, I assume.

At some point also I could just replace them with rock rails or whatever they are called, correct?

I wonder how much it would cost for some car shop around here to install a lift kit...
