=Bad news! Tim Taylor, the owner is certifiably nuts and his product, while it appears pretty cool, is at best sub standard quality. I'd hate to see a fellow Jeeper buy a top from this clown that you then have to pay a local upholsterer to fix....trust me, Tim WILL NOT reimburse you....but he might send you emails about how fvcked up his life is...doesn't matter that he just screwed you on your top...his life sucks...poor him. More details on request.

Sorry to hear that. The halftop/tonneau displayed at gatortop.com looked like a cool concept. I was hoping for more info about that and the "wolftop" version mentioned in another post.

Please post details about his product and the CS you received.

The top took several weeks to get after I ordered it...everytime I called Tim about it, he was :just finishing it," or the frame," just went out to powdercoat...," When I finally received it, I immediately found a four inch section in the bed cover that had just a ball of thread(see pic) and that the top did not fit anywhere near as snug as his website showed. I called him and he said I could have the stitching repaired in town or send it back to him "at my expense" and he'd fix it. As far as the fit, he said "that's the way they fit" He did offer at that point to refund me if I sent the top back, again at my expense...my gut feeling is that I wouldn't ever get a refund if I sent it back. I like the top enough I will have a local upholstery shop re-fit it for me. Incidentally about two weeks after I got the top I received a bill for $23 from UPS for customs fees...I thought that should have been in the $60 I paid for freight. I had several phone and email conversations with Tim and the man is not stable...he shared things about his life that I wouldn't tell a therapist much less a customer. He also emailed me the unincorporation papers for California Tops...I guess just to make sure I understood that my warranty was void? When I am done, I will have a top that I am happy with but for what it cost me in both money and hassles I could have had one custom made locally. If you choose to deal with him, proceed with caution. You might also Google California Tops/Gator Top for more reviews?

Thanks.

That's brokerage fee's for ya, and no it's not covered in the shipping/freight cost. I have to pay that crap every time I order from the US. Sad

Have you guys tried Rock Gear? I've seen several of their tops in action and for the money, they're not bad at all... just thought I'd throw that out there just in case. I have a design similar to theirs that I am going to be marketing soon... well, as soon as I become unlazy and work out the real business side of it. Anyhoo, check out http://www.rockgearinc.com if you need another top and are looking for something easy and good.

Hope this helps. Y'all have fun!
