What all are the symptons of when the OEM one cracks? I'm pretty sure mine's gone the same route as the thousands of other stock 4.0l TJ manifolds out there, but just wanna be sure. Here's the skinny on what mine is (or isn't doing). Fouled O2 sensors, "ticking" kinda noise under acceleration, lousy mileage, and the check engine light comes on after about two days of driving (I disconnect it for a couple minutes as a quick fix now Wink ). I'm sure my muffler's seen better days as well. Not something I need to replace ASAP as the TJ isn't being used that much right now, but I wanna make sure I'm heading in the right direction.

With all of my squeeks and rattles, I can't hear any ticking, but I get a "huffing" (no not paint-related) sound when I downshift to 2nd gear. I just haven't climber underneath to have a look yet. Confused

A simple way to find a crack or loose fittings........

Have someone hold a wet rag over the end of the tailpipe while you check quickly for leaks or evidence of cracks. You should be able to hear the huffhuff from the cracks and see smoke were it shouldnt be.
