Bestop Sailcloth Replace-a-top. Quieter than a hardtop?

I just bought a 2000 Wrangler Sport with full doors. It came with a tan hard top and a soft top which was missing a couple of windows. I removed the soft top from the frame since I really wanted a black top anyways.

Right now I'm debating whether to go with a standard Bestop Replace-a-Top or a sailcloth one. Basically the sailcloth costs twice as much. Since I don't have a garage, and this is my main car, I plan to store the hard top with a friend of mine and only put it on for long trips.

So the question is, is the sailcloth top really as quiet as a factory hard top? Or is Bestop just waving their hands?

Also, if there's another option that's better than either?

Oh, and by the way, do the bestop door skins zip into a factory jeep. I've got full doors and I was wondering if I could just give the doors to a buddy of mine with a 98 TJ.

Here's a review a wrote on the Sailcloth top. I don't have a hard top, so I can't compare the two, but it's a thousand times better than my old flimsy soft top.
In the same thread, you can see pictures of the upper door frames. Basically, the new door skins wrap around the frame and attach with velcro.

I sold my hardtop and replaced it with a sailcloth RAT. Like he said, much better than the old OEM tops, but still not as quiet as a hardtop. This is only because you've still got plastic windows. They're simply gonna allow more outside noise to transmit into the cab. Nothing you can really do about it. Minor flapping at highway speeds, real minor compared to the old tops, produces a bit of noise. Not enough to make me miss the hardtop. Weighs a hella lot less and I don't have to worry about off season storage....would do it again in a heartbeat Smile .
