I am goin to go ahead and guess that you haven't experienced these in the snow - judging strictly by your name. Anyone know how they run in the snow. I hope to be gettin some 31s once tax returns come back and I am looking for my best option. Maybe I should start a new thread on this but who cares - me jackin this one....
I do a fair amount of wheeling, mostly in mud and wet-type terrain. They will also be used a good amount on the road but being in VT we have a LOT of snow so I need something that works well there too. I am looking cheap too - like under 100 bucks a tire. I have rims and would need only the rubber and to have them mounted/balanced. I do not want a staright AT tire but something with a bit more grip/depth - HELP

Are you talking about the Thornbirds? I wouldn't bother with them. They are notorious for being horrible in any wet situation. If you want a good, cheap, non-AT tire with some aggression, but not too much, look at the Trxus MTs.

Basically, take a BFG MTKO, beef it up a little bit in typical Interco fashion, use a softer rubber compound for better grip, and then have factory siping on the lugs. This is a Trxus MT. I love mine. Been stuck only twice, on road and off....but both times I got stuck on something where my tires weren't on the ground and providing traction. (Tree stump meets crossmember and big rock meets rear differential)

At the size you mentioned, I believe they are right around $100 each.
