Alright, so starting up ignition I have no problem at all...

Powering down and withdrawing the key in the last 4 or 5 days has become quite difficult.

I have an appointment with the dealership tomorrow however at the moment the Wrangler is sitting out there with the key in the ignition and I am worried about it being stolen tonight.

As I turn it back to take the key out it gets hung up on that last notch before it turns where you can take it out.

The dealership said something about a tumbler but I need it withdrawn tonight at least. Then I can take it tomorrow.

How can I get the key out? I don't want to have to break anything, and I have WD40 handy... my parents and then the guy who knows a bit about automibles in general who helped pull me out of the mud last week do not know quite what to do.

For the last few days a lot of wiggling and several tries have gotten the key out but it's deadlocked right now.

Ideas?

Auto or manual??? I forget.

If it's the auto, make sure it's in park. If not in park, the key will not come out.

If it's a manual, do they still have the button you've gotta push in? I think my 99 had the button...but I don't remember.

If you can't get the key out at all then you can choose one of the following:

Take off the steering wheel. Mr. Green

Disconnect the battery and take it inside the house with you. Smile

Enjoy.

Auto, but that's an obvious one. Even I know that. rofl

I got it out after much wiggling. I was going to go work out tonight but I have to wonder whether I'd be able to get it out at the gym and then again when I get home. Don't know... Confused

If something like 5 houses(vehicles included) on our street hadn't been robbed in the last month I'd not be so worried.

Broken Ignition lock cylinder I would guess as a locksmith but I can't know for sure as you don't say what year model jeep you have.

Very seldom do the wafers cause a problem that some light oil, even motor oil can't cure.

Problem is usually a small piece of the lock actuator on the back of the lock cylinder that breaks off and interferes with the movement of the ignition switch. Puts a bind on them both and won't allow the lock to turn far enough to the rear to extract the key.

They got it all fixed Friday.

It was apparently that what they called the shift cable was too long.

However in the process they screwed up the lights for night on the auto. I don't need them but they broke them anyway. So that's another thing. I can probably just open it up and realign them myself, though.

Huh? I'm not sure what all they screwed up, but if it were my new jeep, I'd be down there in the morning.
