That's a winch bumper all right. Shocked

Seriously though, it looks like you did an awesome job on it. I would guess that winch bumpers for grands would be hard to come by. I'm impressed.

Oh, and what poundage is your winch? I would think that a ZJ would weigh a good bit more than my lil YJ. Wink

On second thought you did cut a whole bunch of stuff off of yours, so I'm sure it's lighter than normal. Mr. Green

I like. Since you have a whole album, please do a write-up. Let me know if you need the photos hosted. Mr. Green
BTW, have you weighed your rig to see how much weight it's lost on it's sawzall diet? Wink

The GvW on my Door says that I weigh 5500.. However .. With the carpet ripped out and all the extra weight cut off.. I thought I would be much lighter.

I took it to a truck weigh scale and it only weighed in at 3950.. Shocked
Add about 200# for the winch and bumper and I figure I am at 4200# give or take..

Dont know why I am so light... Maybe the GVW is way off or maybe I cut off more weight than I thought... Mr. Green

Oh and Quad....
Its a Warn X9000I

Should have no problem pulling me out.. Mr. Green

Grand Cherokee winch bumpers are pretty steep.. Almost $1200 for a good one.. And I made mine for about $80.. How can you beat that... Mr. Green

GVW is the total weight of a vehicle with driver and passengers, cargo, fuel, coolant, any options or accessories, and tongue weight if towing.

Curb Weight is the weight of an empty vehicle, without cargo and driver and passengers, but including maximum amounts of fuel, oil, coolant and standard equipment, including the spare tire and tools.

That is probably the major cause for the difference. The GVW takes into account the weight that you can put on the tounge towing and all the cargo/passengers that you can fit in/on your ZJ. The truck scale that you pulled onto measured your wieght at that time, which should translate into curb weight.

I have not looked at the whole album, but it's looking good.
Why does it stick out so far? I'd think you could move the whole thing a lot closer to the engine.

I would have had to cut thru the stock bumper thingy.. and then its only about 2" thick.. So it wouldnt have gone back much and the structural integriity that I would have lost would not have been worth it.. There is about 1/2 inch of space in the back and 1" in the front. That is to allow for slack in the cable so it doesnt bind.. Its really as tight as I could make it...

I live in Louisiana and the highest point is 354 ft. above sea level so aproach angle is not an issue.. Very Happy Very Happy

Its pretty much flat land and mudd here...

See sig... Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

Have you thought about integrating some fog lights into the bumper? Like sutting out two 4x6 squares and mounting them into the actua bumper? That would be pimp. Mr. Green

I thought about it but the bumper is made out of 2X6 Rectagle tubing and I would have to cut thru both sides and that idea did not work for me..
To much work... Razz Razz
