Replaced spark plugs, dizzy cap and rotor, magnetic pickup in dizzy to "solve" intermittent loss of power and eventual engine dying in my '96 4.0 Cherokee. Power loss occurred off-road on rough trails at low RPM. Sitting a few minutes, several tries to start engine, and success.

Yesterday after leaving Interstate 10, at the first and succeeding traffic lights, rough idle but kept running, but no power at idle. Holding foot on throttle at 1000 RPM gave smooth running with normal power from the traffic lights. Went to a movie, drove home with no problem.

Any thoughts on the cause of rough idle and loss of power??
