Okay what is a good back spacing for 33x12.50, 15x8 rim on a XJ?? I've been told to stay around a 4.5?? What about 3.75, to much strain on bearings or hubs?? Shocked

You shouldn't have issues with the hubs and bearings with 3.75". However, they'll stick further out from the vehicle. Then you've gotta worry about the tire coverage nazi's like here in PA. I recommend 4-4.5".

What Erik said, 4" to 4.5" will kick those meats out enough to keep them from rubbing. Unlike "the tire coverage nazi's" in PA, here in Virginia, there is no law about having tires covered by fenders....you could take the fenders off and be perfectly legal. Finger

3.75" will work too...that's what I run. Mr. Green

In the great state of Kentucky the laws that we have really don't apply. We have a 36" bumper law that no one pays attention to, we have tire size laws that no one pays attention to, and we have marital laws that .....no one pays attention to!!

I ran 31's with an even 4 on my XJ and it looks good. I would say there is a point when you really get them sticking out too far because with extreme suspension articulation you will rub the high heavens out of your fenderz. I have done it twice on mine so far.....

Just some food for thought - CoreyXJ

Agreed. When I put my AR's on (3.75"), the first offroad excursion was ugly...the tires rubbed EVERYWHERE. After installing some extended bumpstops, applying "a little finesse work" to the fenders and hacking up my flares, I've gotten rid of the rubbing and it all stuffs nicely...but it is something to keep in mind.
