Proud owner of new '04 Willy's Edition and really enjoy reading the comments on this site! I'm off to my first Jamboree next week up in the hills by Santa Barbara, should be a lot of fun!
I'm interested in anybody else who may own a Willy's edition and what they may have found for accessories out there that may match same body color or style?
As well, does anybody know how many Willy's style was made? I hear conflicting stories, no hard written evidence. Thanks for your help and comments.
Once I get familiar with site, I'll get some photo's posted of my Willy's, it's pretty sharp looking. I get lots of comments jeepin around town in it. Overall, a blast to own!

I have a willys but it's about 50 years old. eyebrows
I haven't seen any products specifically geared towards the new model although I think anything black would fit or you can spray paint it. Be sure to post pics though - I like the way they look. Is it Camp Jeep that you're going to? Thephantum went a few weeks ago to the east coast one - he's got photos in the events forum. welcome

I'm really interested in seeing this "willys" edition. I do automotive retail advertising so I have acess to the factory product art. I came across this "commando" artwork for 2003 model year but I never saw anything else advertised for this. Is this the same Jeep they are selling as the Willys edition?

full size: http://www.autoadart.com/commando.jpg

I see it again in the 2004 art files, but still not advertising for it. Some RL photos of this thing would be great!

I'll see what I can dig up, but yes, that's basically what they look like. I think they might be a regional thing as I haven't seen any in CA but I saw a few in NM when they were at the stealership last year.

Hmm.. this is only increasing my curiosity. That picture looks like somone transforming a TJ into a Willys. I notice the "Commando" markings replaced with "Willys"... the top options are completely differnt than the retail photos. Also the retail photos have hard doors... I'm wodering if maybe this photo is someone doing a copy-cat.

I came across this on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36475&item=2476489542

After seeing this it makes me wonder if the Willys edition is no more than a dealer prep package on a Forest Green X/SE/Sport Wrangler. I was hoping to see a steel wheeled back to basics wrangler with the camo'ed seats, etc. as pictured in the retail photo. I've yet to see this.

Here are photos and info on the Willys. Not sure what the Commando is. I believe Jeepsareus (the ebay seller) is actually somehow related to Daimler Chyrsler but don't remember the connection. Anyway, if you look in the bottom right corner of this photo it talks about the Mopar decal package being a dealer installed option.

Ah.. very kool.. This is the first factory promo I've seen on these. Looks like they did away with the "Commando" designation like on the product art I had. That was kinda lame anyway... it seemed like they were marketing towards the old G.I. Joe generation (cough, cough.... Yes I old enuff to have played with those dolls). It seemed to me that they forgot all about the Jeepster Commando, and this really doesn't fit as a retro Jeep Commando.

I inquirred to all 3 of my Chrysler/Jeep dealers about thei last year and pretty much got a "WTF?" response from each. I'm thinking that who ever got their hands on one of these will have quite a collectors items since it seems that it was almost a failed marketing experiment.

If you're looking for one, you can try Scheid Motors in Taos, NM. They had several of them sitting on the lot. If you want, I can get the phone number for you.

Proud owner of the 2005 Jeep Willys edition. It is a 4.0 L 6 speed X model with the Willys Edition Group Package. This includes: Camo seats, Willys badges, fog lamps, green diamond plate sill guards, green soft top, full metal doors, tow hooks, and the green painted wheels. There is not a white star on the hood though. Very cool and expect to pay in the 23k range.

I have a 04 Willys. Only mods so far are black hoop steps and trailer hitch. Have a humvee antenna I'm going to mount when I get time. Immediate plans are 4.5 lift, 33 BFG TA tires, and bumpers. Gets alot of looks from everyone. Those full steel doors would be nice, but the dealer said I could not get them as an option. He said that 04's could not have full steel doors and 05's could not have half doors as an option. But I have heard of 04's being delivered with full doors so who knows. Those and the trail-rated badge seem to be the only changes from 04 to 05 that I can see. Dealer in Ames, Iowa has two 05's. Look pretty sharp! The stickers and fog light/tail light protecters were added after the purchase at an extra cost. I think it would be cool to get a bunch of 04-05 Willys together for a "convoy" trail ride... Nice to hear from other Willys Very Happy

That photo with the "03TJ" and full doors with the full face wheels was a 2003 marketing study prototype. Came out as a limited edition trim package on the X model for $1,200.00 in 2004. 1000 were built, 250 were with the decals and the other 750 were identical without the decal kit. The "Willy's" decals were always present though. Notice the actual production lost the full steel doors but I can not say none were ever made with the full doors. All production Willy's for some reason got the small SE wheels. The guards on the lights were a dealer installed option most dealers added to complete the look. Decal kits are available from the dealer, personally the dark green top is only available from the dealer at 1,200.00 and that is the best part. Maybe in a few years Best Top will produce replacements. Surprised Jeep didn't go the distance and put Rubi gear under it or thrown the package on a 4cyl which would be true to roots to move those things like they did with the Rio Grande Edition in 1995 when they had the 4.0L shortage for Wrangler production. Either way a 4.0 with a Willy's name on it with street tires and shiney paint and tacky camo seats just doesn't make sense. Green interior or agate would have been fine:) Definetly a collectors item though. I'd be cringing modifying one.
