I have been trying to find out when Cleghorn Road off the 15 Freeway will open. Its the old Route 66 Trail. Does anyone know of another way to get on the trail besides the Cleghorn Road? I have driven down there every weekend to get on this trail but the gate is closed, theres another trail about 30 feet before which I have already gone on, and thats pretty cool for beginners. If anyone knows about this Trail please let me know. Thanks

The gate is probably closed for a reason. Usually when trails close, they don't open again.

Trespassing on a closed trail isn't the smartest thing to do.

Also, this doesn't belong in the KJ forum....I'm moving it to Land Use.

If the trail is on public land, you should be able to find out what the deal is through either US Forest Service, National Parks Service or through your state park agency...depending on whose juristiction that particular trail falls under.

Here in VA, gates are open or closed depending on the time of year and it's mainly based around the different hunting seasons.

Are you talking about the one near Cajon Pass? If it's in the San Bernardino national forest, it's probably closed due to the extreme fire danger. Give them a call to find out for sure - I'd hate to bypass a gate and start a major fire that gets us kicked off more land. Ayway, here's the # (909) 382-2778

Thanks for the info.
Yes its the one near the Cajon Pass. I called and they said, that the first mile of the trail is closed, but told me I can get through by going into Silverwood and taking the second left turn in.

Did they say if it had to do with last year's Lytle fire? I found a map that there are still closures from that due to rehabilitation.
