Model years.

ZJ was the Grand Cherokee body style from like 95-99 and then WJ is the body style from 00-04. 2005 starts the new body style, the WK.

Don't quote me of the years of the ZJ/WJ switch....it's somewhere around there.

Yup... We will let you slide on that one... Mr. Green

There are several differences in the vehicles themselves ..
The WJ has a fuel tank that hangs down much lower.. But the ride hight of the jeep is taller than a ZJ and the WJ has kinda a triangulated rear setup where the ZJ has 5 link front and rear..

blah blah blah..

But the reason they are called ZJ and WJ is because they are different models... Like YJ and TJ Mr. Green Mr. Green

ANd I dont know when the Breakover year for them was... rofl rofl
Was it 94??

95 was the last model year for the YJ, skipped 96 and the TJ came out in 97. Wink

The TJ was actually released early in 1996 as a 1997 and had a lengthy model year. It was something like 16-18months or so compared to the typical 12month model year. So they didn't really miss a year, there's just no official 1996 Wrangler....they were all 1997s.
