Why do you need to do this?

If your doing a lift it certainly is the right time. Might want to consider a SYE too.

Not knowing the tail shaft or if you have an adapter kit installed your question is hard to answer.

It's basically like installing an SYE. Which, while you're in there, I'd recommend installing if your Jeep is lifted.

Like TOW asked...why do you need to replace the chain?

Hi, my TJ has a cheap 2' lift (spacers) I don't do any real off roading, other than driving through a stream hunting now and then. Everything has worked great until now. I put it in 4wd and when I am cornering, it has a grinding noise(best way I can describe it), I removed the front drive shaft and spun the front transfer yoke and it sounds like a chain flopping around the sprockets. Maybe I'm wrong. I've never worked on a tranny or a tranfercase before, so I don't know if Im diagnosing it right. Any
advise would be great, thanks

I doubt that you would need an sye for a 2" budget boost.

Grinding while turning I don't think would be the transfercase. It would grind all the time. I'm thinking the plantary gears in the front pig but I'm not a real mechanic nor do I play one on TV.

Just my two cents worth.
