OK, so I'll be buying the Warn soon. I'm still trying to decide between the 9.5ti or 9.5xp...but that ain't the question...the question is on winch rope.

I know the advantages of running synthetic rope over cable and that the fairhead will need to be replaced when the rope is installed...yada, yada, yada. I also understand some of the drawbacks to it and, to me, the advantages outweigh the drawbacks. So, the question is: Whose product to go with? Anyone got any comparision charts and/or recomendations?

TIA

Steve

Cool. Looks like I gots more research to do.

It's actually interesting though, that's the third different MBS I've seen for 3/8" Amsteel Blue line: MasterPull says it's 17, 640lb - a vendor had 20, 400lb listed and Samson Rope (the manufacturer) claims 18, 401lb.

I cant remember the exacts right now but I got a 4x4 mag at home that had a "synth rope shootout" and had lots of info. I didnt know that much on it either, still dont actually, but it was informative. If you have a buddy that gets a bunch of subscriptions , ask and see if the remember seeing that article. Was around 4 months ago I think.

There are several terms that some times give folks a fit when disscussin rope, er, I mean line.

SWL refers to safe working load = to 1/4 the breaking strenght.
Maximum working load = to won't break now but don't do that again.
Obviously then Breaking load = to SNAP now time to splice.

Many factors play out in the numerous sizes and strenght of rope.
Make of fiber
Strand sizes
Thickness

I've got rockstomper [blue in color] on my Jeep and and some other type [yellow in color] on the Rover. I've used the rockstomper a few times and have been really happy with the stuff. My only advice would be to get some with the safety hook already attached to the line. Rockstomper had the best prices when I bought mine 6 months ago but I had some shipment issues [like them not effing shipping it for like a week and lying to me about it].

Good Luck

Ya, Rockstomper uses Amsteel Blue's synthetic rope...I was looking at their site last week...their prices are still pretty good.

Amsteel Blue seems to be "most bang for the buck" too...
