hello everyone, so i ran over some very large sort of pot hole in my tj immediately noticed a slight "clunk" when shifting out of 1st into 2nd and rev.
1 day later a slight noise when driving got steadily louder started resembling a flat but quickly started making a metal grinding sort of noise in steady intervals ( every couple of feet or revolutions of the axle)it seems to be "binding" loud metal noise rear visibally hitches up a bit when it gets to that spot i am certain it's the rear axle area since my tj will still roll and will go in forward or reverse unless stopped at the grinding point in the process , then it needs to be rolled forward or backwords a bit to move off the broken point, any suggestions as to what may be broken would be much appreciated
thanx

Ring and/or pinion most likely. Sounds similar to when my brother shear a couple teeth off the ring gear and pinion in the S-10 Blazer he was driving.

Crack open the diff cover and take a look.
