hello-- I am a new user and am having a problem with my 95 Cherokee SE. It has 104,000 original kms and I have just started experiencing the follwoing problem. When I shift the into gear (automatic) either forward or reverse, the gear does not imediately engage unless I rev the engine. Then it kind of pops into gear and I can drive the vehicle normally. There seems to be a sticking sensation at right rear. Any ideas before I proceed to the shop to get royally soaked. I was thinking wheel bearing? Rico in Ontario

That's only 65,000 miles (US). When was the last time you had the tranmission serviced and adjusted? I have a '95 XJ SE, too. It's the wife's DD with 150k miles (241,401 km) without any tranny problems at all. We've serviced it every 25,000 miles (40,233 km) though, too. What's your fluid look like?

Yeah, I'd check your tranny fluid. What color is it and what's it smell like? Have you changed it at all?

yep, check the fluid. have a flush/filter done, that does wonders for the tranny.

detox--yeah from Oakville. The tranny level/fluid both check out OK. Turns out the right rear brake shoe was sticking and causing problem. Seems to have cleared up on its own but am cleaning up drums to avoid again . . .
