The TJ's been sitting for about 2 weeks and when I went out to check to be sure it was still there, I found yet another large puddle of power steering fluid under it. So, to prevent the EPA from making my driveway a superfund site and just to take care of what needs taking care of, I'm looking to start a junkyard search for a wagoneer steering gear box. The only problem is, what do I look for? And by that I mean, from the outside, mine looks fine so how will I know if I'm getting another junker? Obviously, I'll avoid anything that's bashed or has major front end damage, but what else can I look for? TIA

I would start by looking for a Waggy that has a clean engine.. Usually as long as there is no fluid all over it, It should be fine.. I would still get a rebuild kit for it.. They are available at Autozone..
Here is a link to a complete rebuild kit for a power steering gear box...

But if its not covered in fluid... (Like I bet yours is) It is probobly fine..

My son was looking at my GMC Van and thinks the same steering assy is used there too so don't limit your looking to just one type vehicle, good luck.
