Awsome Site..I have a 1999 XJ. The relay or fuse for the electric cooling fan started making a clicking sound when the engine is shut off. Is it a bad relay or something worse? I just pulled it out of the power distribution center for now but I don't want to drive it until I can get it fixed. Is this a part I can get at my friendly auto parts store? Thanks.

Depends on how friendly they are.... It should be available but some of that detailed electronic stuff is only available from the stealership. If you end up having to go there, brace yourself, its liable to be high $$$.

If its making a clicking noise when the vehicle is off, then it may just be old and worn out. if you do buy a new one and put it in , and it still makes noise, then it may be something more involved.

Good luck with it...

If it stopped making noise when you pulled the relay, that should be it. (If not, try pulling the A/C compressor clutch relay...it's on the same circuit)

You should be able to get the relays at any autoparts store

Sounds like the relay needs replaced like Corey and Phantum said. Mine went out once, but the fan never shut off when the vehicle was turned off. Wife didn't notice it so the battery got drained. That shut the fan off though.

I don't believe they are expensive, and can be bought at any parts store.

Picked up the relay at NAPA yesterday. It was $5.60! So it wasn't anything worse. Thanks again, for the help!
