sometimes the cold weather causes vehicles to make noises. Could you have a leak in your exhaust or manifold that you don't hear over the road noises?

P.S. Try not to type in all caps, it's hard on the eyes Wink Mr. Green

yeah, my alternator made a weird sound for a while also and then it went out on me. Keep an eye on it, try to have a buddy out there with you and have him in your jeep reving your engine and you can try to pinpoint the sound.

What kind of condition is the belt it... OR more importantly the pulleys.. YOu have an Idler and a tension pulley on a ZJ.. Either one will make a hell of a racket if they go out...

Best bet would be get some WD 40 or simular with the engine running.. and spray the back of the tensioner (spring one ...) and see if that quiets it down .. If not spray the idler.. Top dead center of V8's .. IF that quiets it then replace which ever it was...

That will probobly do... Mr. Green

Good luck ..

Carl
