Short answer - 8000lb+

Long answer - To calculate proper winch capacity for a vehicle, take the maximum gross weight you intend to pull and multiply it by 1.5. For a Cherokee that works out to around 5250lbs (3500x1.5). This is the MINIMUM rating a winch should have. A typical 8000lb winch has a minimum capacity of around 6000lbs.
