Any tips on getting some extra MPG. The xj likes the gas and its a daily driver so anything that will help. By the way I am cheap. so far I am thinking cold air intake, new 02 sensor, plugs, wires and cap, anything else? Also what is the optimum gas mileage rmp for highway driving?

The tuneup is the best thing you can do for MPG's. Don't know what year you've got, but the OBDII vehicles (97+) have two O2 sensors, an upsteam and a downstream...just something to keep in mind.

Optimum RPM at highway speeds is going to depend on what size tires and gearing you've got. This chart should give you a general idea.

air intake, new plugs, wires, tune up, performance exhaust...these will help considering you stay out of the gas with the lil bit of ooomph you picked up Mr. Green

Light right foot is also one of the best tactics. You won't see anything significant with the air intake. And if you do, it certainly won't be enough to make it cost effective.
