First thing is to get the tranny flushed, if it's already been flooded. After that, extend the breather up to the top of the firewall in the engine compartment with a hose. |

It's probably a rubber tube that comes out the top of the transmission. Crawl around your jeep and look for it. If you're not willing to do that, then Ehirner's advice was perfectly good. |

Starting off on the right foot I see.
It's helpful info. I'm sorry it's not something you prefer to hear. _________________ 04 Unlimited |

Those are your 2 choices. Extend the vent tube (basically, snorkel the tranny) or don't go swimming. Nothing smartass about it, so just relax and lets keep the thread on topic.
I don't know where it is on the TJ auto's. I believe there were 2 autos available in 2000, a 3 speed and a 4 speed. In either case, it would be near the top of the tranny. Like Code said, I would just crawl around under there with a flashlight and look.

probably not a breather hose per se...more likely a breather or expansion port
that is not tubed...my manual tranny was that way also - I had to pop off
the topper and then tube it myself. I believe some of the autos were the same
it was easier to work on by removing the console and pulling the tranny tunnel
covers to get at the top of the tranny on mine.
good luck. _________________ The difference between Genius and Stupidity?
