My 86 Wagoneer Limited with the 2.8L dles just fine. When you put it in gear and try to move it bogs down really bad. If you put the pedal to the floor it almost dies. Adjusted the timing and didn't help. CHanged spark plugs and wires, same thing. Also cleaned the carb, nothing has worked so far. Any help would be great. Thanks guys

Maybe the coil is out on it?? You can change plugs and wires all you want but if you don't have a hot source to keep up with the revs of the engine...then you got nothing... I am not really sure what else it could be - I am not that familiar with the older Cherokees.

When was the last time the vacuum lines were replaced? Sounds like a vacuum line problem to me. Although they may look good, many times they are not. I'm not sure how many that ol' 2.8 had, but I think there several.

Just a thought. Wink

I had the same problem with my 84 cherokee, I got the carb rebulit and it ran excellant. But it could be the ignition coil.

Thanks for all the help, I'm gonna change the vacuum lines and have the carb rebuilt. I've already changed the coil and distributor, so its all brand new.

Sounds like a possible clogged fuel filter.
