Manual is confusing and doesnt explain anything good.

I got a 87 Cherokee, I would like to know what to put it in under, under what conditions, and also when to put it into another drivetrain (as in what speed to shift into)

Thanks a lot

Also, do you just pull the selector straight back or ... what

I would also like other sites that maybe have visuals

Most of the time, just putting the main transmission in Neutral, then pulling the transfer case lever to the desired mode....

When you pull it back, just follow the diagram on the lever, or console beside it....it should just move smoothly, or semi-smoothly along it's path thumbs

Be sure to stop and put it back in Neutral (main transmission) before disengaging.....had a friend who drove a 2001 Sahara and couldn't get it out of 4-lo rofl rofl when he didn't even need the 4-lo in the first place

To make things quick, usually, 4-hi will go in while you are in gear, and rolling at about 2-3MPH

You should be ok in Park too.....but I know for sure you won't get it out of 4-lo in drive Finger (least not without tearing your transmission and transfer case to pieces)

But sure, any time, and you're welcome Wink
