interesting...but does that take into account the rigged fuel pumps? That seems to be widespread problem. Ever since fuel pumps went electric many gas stations have bought the gas cheat devises.

Baton Rouge.

and no, ive only had her about a week, so i havent found any yet. I was going to visit Light Line of Louisiana since alot of jeeps and other 4x4's have their stickers and see if they have a club.

other than them, im clueless and looking for a group that can help a newbie learn about his first Wrangler 4x4.

know any groups?

I was told you can fit 40 gallons in a 15 gallon tank. Either fill up 2.5 times, or you could also put a hole in the botton of the tank and attach 25 gallon ziplock bags chained together. Good luck, let us know how it works out.

Perfectly safe. Just build a new skid plate out of .025" thick styrene. You can use Testor's model glue to assemble it, but be very careful not to get any on the ziplocks or you might have a leak. You can actually tripple your capacity that way, but you have to be careful not to go lower than your axle. Mr. Green

All it takes is a push on a button or flick of a switch by the owner or manager of the gas pumps and they can be charging you for fuel that aint going in the tank. As long as they dont get to greedy it can be hard to detect. This can be done with a device that gets wired into thier cash register or the switches that turn the pumps on. The device it self can be easily hidden away in another room of the station or store. The device wires look just like the other thousand wires that are under/inside any convience store counter, so they blend easily and are impossible to notice.

The device itself tricks the gas pump into thinking that its dispencing more fuel than it actually is at the set price.....so a 16 gallon tank can hold 20 in its mind, when in fact 16 is all thats pumped, but the customer has been charged for the 20.

It only takes a push of a button to correct the gas dispensing too, should the station be reported or if anyone questions it or whatever. Here in NH most get away with it. When the dept of weights and measures show up in thier little white "I look like a guvment use car" and ask for 3 gallons of gas.well it takes no brain surgeon to figure out what thier up to. Nobody feuls thier vehicle buy the gallon. The NH weights and measures have the fuel filler go into an exact measure container instaed of the fuel tank for being able to covertly moniter stores for gas theft....but like I say they all drive them stupid white DOT cars and ask for Gallons of gas instead of a dollar amount like most of the rest of us would do.

I have known alot of and worked at a few mom/pop gas stations over the years for extra spending money. The ones that dont do this and run a legit buisness mostly never made any money with thier stores. The ones that I know do this or suspected of doing this made tons of money.

I'm pretty sure I would have bitched to the store about that knowing I had a 15 gallon tank.

Yeah.. The first time I put 24 in mine I went off.. Screaming and yelling about the Cokmouth bastards ripping me off.. I have had my Jeep since it was new and it had never taken more than 22 before.. Of course they didnt do anything but I made a mental note to put that bastard on my "If I ever have 48 hours to live who will I kill." List.. And since then I have done it a few more times.. All with a little notation afterwards.. I think you got ripped off..Same as I did.. Not much you can do about it... But That being said. IF you get 20 in it next time you fill up .. Then feel good cause you didnt get ripped off and you are able to carry extra fuel... Mr. Green

well i am going to watch the milage, i wnat to know my gas milage too, so ill keep yall informed. If i get close to 350, then i think im good and didnt get ripped off. My first fill up before knowing about this trick gave me a yellow light at about 250 miles.

my math isnt perfect, but it seems inline with 17-18 mpg.

but if i did get taken, im gonna cry then pee on the glass door.

lolup lolup

There's been a couple of stations I've noticed here in CA that as soon as the pump turns on, it "pumps" a couple of cents worth before you even start pumping. Confused

Back in NY years ago, I pumped an alleged 7 gallons of fuel into a 5.25 gallon can. Luckily, when I confronted the owner, a cop happened to be in the store (thus preventing me from committing a murder that day). Needless to say that station was shut down about a month later.

They are all over. After 8 years driving the same Jeep, I know how much fuel it will take for a given point on the gas gauge. I usually stick to the stations/pumps that I know are accurate. If I go to a station and the numbers don't jibe...I don't go there again and I tell everyone I know not to. Reporting it is useless for the reasons that Todd stated.
