I'll be changing my diff. fluids soon and was curious as to which gaskets ya'll use? Or do you guys just use RTV?

I have "command trac" and not "trac loc", so I shouldn't need a friction modifier, correct?

Found these on the net...what do you think?

I tried the lubelockers last summer when I did my D44 buildup. Was it easier than RTV? Yes. Did it work and not leak? Yes. Did I put one back in when I did diff service this past weekend? No.

I don't really see the point of spending $15-$20 per diff when hi-temp RTV will do both diffs for $4...but that's just me. Mr. Green

RTV always worked for me. The only one I keep handy is the Copper type ones.......it has worked for eveything I used it on.

The deal with succesfully sealing diffs is clean, clean, clean and then clean it. Ive always used carb cleaner to clean the surfaces with paper towels, and then keep using a new clean paper towel. Any greae at all left on either surface will cause a leak.

you dont have to go nuts with the rtv either. I run a 1/8" bead on both the cover and the housing and spread it evenly as I can with my finger, then allow it to tack up a bit for 5 minutes or so, maybe 10 if its cold where your doing the work. After putting the 2 together I like to wait @ 2hours before I pump new gear oil in.

I like the Ultra Grey with gaskets. No leaks... and I get my gaskets for free which is a nice perk. The Ultra Grey works fine without gaskets and I use it on all gear boxes, at work and my stuff too.

Ditto on RTV, I've done a bunch of changes, never once leaked on me and always was in great shape when I'd do the change. Can't beat it!

Do you have open diffs or the stock limited slip?

Command trak is the transfer case option. Trak-lok is the LSD option. If you don't have trak-lok, then you don't need the additive.
