First time on the forum and i came across an article about the bolts on the rear shocks. I installed a 3.5 lift on my 00 XJ and everything was going great untill I got to the shock bolts. Lets see I soaked them for three days prior to the install and then SNAP. I tried to drill them out, after a couple of bits and a couple of easyouts later I just took an air hammer with a punch attatchment to them. Popped out pretty easy. I then took some thin wire fed it up through wraped it around the bolt, pulled then tightened the nuts and on the road again. Hope this helps someone else out there so that they don't have to waste the time like I did.

We've found the best way not to break them is feathering the trigger on an impact wrench. If they do break (or you don't have air tools), drilling/tapping them out is about the only option you've got. You can either come at them from underneath or you can cut into the rear deck and get at them from the top.
