so, my 1989 Wagoneer LTD developed an exhaust
leak...and wouldn't you know it, at the exhaust
manifold gasket on the last cylinder...
I have all the parts removed, Injector rail, heat
shield and all the bolts off of the intake/exhaust
manifold...except for one. It's the one all the way in
the back. I got the upper one off, but there is one
just under that right up against the firewall....
Anybody here have experience with this? Any tips on
getting to this bolt? I can get a socket on it, but I
can't angle a wrench or wrench with extension or
nothing! It's just this one single bolt...
Any help or tips? If I can get a wrench on it, I can
remove it...
Thanks
Ed

Ed, can you get one of those sockets with a built in universal joint on it? Not a universal that goes between a socket and an extention, that would take up too much room, but maybe the kind that is built into the socket would get it. FD.

I went to sears last night and spent $100+ on some additional tools I hope will help.
I got a claw that has a 3/8 fitting on it, a 10" extension with a locking ball to hold the socket, a 13mm socket/universal joint in one, a short stubby 13mm open end and a swivel head ratcheting crescent/box wrench.

And someone on another list said that perhaps lifting the engine a little may afford me the clearance. I'll post back on this list when I've tried all my possible combinations.
