Well,

Ever since I got my TJ in October people have told me that the chrome wheel covers look shitty(especially up close cause they look cheap and you can tell their clipped on). Underneath is the original aluminum wheel seen here as an example..they are actually rusty around the edges like that pic on ebay...big deal?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43955&item=7967253539&rd=1

This is what I got..

http://jeephorizons.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=3638

I am VERY much considering taking off all the chrome wheel covers and just having the original aluminum wheel. I took one off yesterday just to see the original steel wheel and it looked in good shape except some rust around the edge and on it. Just needs cleaned up a little.

The question is....what should I do??

thanks

dear freak,
what you really need is some bitchen' 24"s with the spinners all the rappers seem to love. and maybe some of those zebra stripe seat covers with the matching steering wheel cover and gear shift. Razz Neutral Wink Rolling Eyes Mr. Green rofl rofl rofl
'cmon pal... i think my hubcaps look great when i wear them with the right nail color.
Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

sorry freak, i couldn't resist.
it your jeep. set it up the way YOU want it, not the way anybody else sez it should be. i'm always looking at the other jeeps to see what the others do, just like the girls at the mall... make it your own. i see people with 1971 rusty-old-fart-cushion jeeps just as happy behind the wheel as the folks with the 6"lifted brand new rubi with 35" balloons all sparkly and fit for cruising the boulevard and parking diagonally in the best three spots at the mall.

i think all black steel rims can look tough. Cool the perfect thing for the guy that just doesn't care what you think, or if he jumps the curb or ditches it into the median to get where he needs to go. Rolling Eyes Mr. Green rofl Mr. Green Wink Razz Cool

my jeep is all showroom stock, black with tan top 1998 2.5L except for some grizzly rims from a cherokee at the salvage yard ($150)

Why not clean it up some and run it without the little covers to see what you think. If you don't like it, you can always throw them back on. Or you could always do this:

Ok,

A girl from work said that those aluminum wheels that I have underneath of my covers and are in that pic from ebay are ugly. I dont know how many TJ's I see around that have those wheels. I could count 5 that I saw yesterday. Do you guys think they are?

TJgirl,

What do you mean take the end caps off my bumper? help me here...

the rounded end caps on your front bumper, theres one on each end. those come off, maybe a few screws. looks way better without those on. the back has them too but they look ok left on, hope this helps. The stock rims that come on a Jeep are very ugly! need to up grade those anyway! the steps also must go and replace them with Sun or Warren rocker guards, you will like it! Cool

ok my bumper ends are gone, see how much better it looks! stock steps are gone, warren rocker guards in place to protect your rocker panels. the bumper end caps are very noticable! new rims, bigger tires, running 31's, two inch bugdet boost got about 2.1/2 boost from it, RE. Smile

ok I looked at your pic of your Jeep again, your stock steps are already gone but you need to take that other little mollding piece off of there and put rocker guards, otherwise you could damage your rocker panels easy! they are a little pricy, around $300 or you could make your own! well worth it! get yourself lots of Jeep parts magazines and check out all the different things you can do to your Jeep. personalize it, make it yours! I garrentee the girls will love it! if I say so myself, lol Razz Cool

BTW, those rims aren't aluminum - they're steel. If you see something rusting, chances are it's not aluminum. Wink

There steel....

Do they have these magnetic devices in Pennsytucky called "magnets"?

IF it sticks to wheel its steel, if not its not steel.
