I really need some suggestions before I give up and head to the local dealer. My 40k XJ starts first time every time and runs OK for about 8 minutes, it then starts to lose power and missfire. Have noticed this seems to coincide with the temperature reaching around 90, just before the thermostat opens (does this point to the O2 sensor?). If I gas it gently I starts to pop and splutter, but if I kick down hard it appears to run cleanly, but when I ease off to normal running it continues missfiring and at slow speed will often cut out. Sometimes on open roads keeping it kicked down can clear the problem and I can drive on OK without the missfire returning. I have checked for shorting cables from the sensors and they all seem OK. Help please.
Thanks
