Ive got a knock in my 4 cyl engine. Its only over 2500 rpm. It dosent seem to be the lifters or rods. Any suggestions and has anyone ever put a newer (99-01) 4 cyl in an old (88-89) jeep?

Rolling Eyes The knock is more than likely wrist pin noise. depends where in the motor it is coming from. High or low. The newer enging will require some re-wireing to up grade the computer.

Its in the back on the engine, sounds like it is up high. It does not go away when the #4 plug wire is pulled (or any other plug wire). Is wrist pin noise going to kill the engine(120000 miles) or is it just going to be annoying?

eventualy it will trash it. I personaly would either re-build the one in it. Or start looking for another engine and swap it.
