i have a 97 grand cherokee with the 5.2L and the compressor is bad. so i want to know if i could swap it out with one from a dakota same year and engine? thanks for the help

It should work.. Engine is the same mounts should be the same..

the mounting for the a/c lines were wrong

If your compressor went bad, you should change your accumulator and liquid line as well because these components get contaminated when compressor goes. Replace just the compressor and you'll have the same problems down the road.
