throtle body spacers

I have a tj with the 2.5 liter. Will a trotle body spacer and air tube help with preformance, or not even worth trying

I got one for free...a gift, installed it, saw absolutely ZERO difference, except for an annoying whistle at certain throttle levels...

i heard that they do nothing but create a space for a vaccum leak
