Okay guys, help me out. How do you find places to 'wheel?

I recently moved to the Nashville/ Murfreesboro area for school, and bought my XJ. I've been reading magazines for years, and I'm currently a mechanic attending anautomotive college up here, so I have the technical side of four wheeling down. The problem is, I dont have the actual 'wheeling side, because I cant find anywhere to go!

I've tried a web search, and was excited when I found the High Step'n Jeep club in Murfreesboro- only to find out that their website is down and email is non-functional, so I cant get in touch with them.

I'm doing my best to just find trails, but all that's gotten me so far is a natural gas pipeline right of way, and a visit from the friendly sherriff telling me that I was in a restricted access, high- terrorism risk area, and he would let me go if I left immediately. Yeah. Not the best luck ever, eh?

So where do I need to start looking? I see lifted vehicles all over town, but never get thechance to stop the driver and ask where they wheel. I've been told there are four or five off road shops here in Murfreesboro, but have been unsucessful in locating any of them. Where do I go from here?

Thanks,

Blake

Find a local 4x4 or offroad club and get to know the members.

My old stomping grounds! around 25 years ago anyway.

I remember this place @1/2 way between Murpheesboro and Lebanon called the Cedars of Lebanon. It was a offroad area back then.

I would start with the Southern 4WD Association. They have about 20 member clubs in TN and should also be able to let you know where those off road shops are too. Wink

Well, I have bad news. After talking to the park manager, Cedars of Lebanon was closed to off- road vehicles in 2000 due to eccessive trail damage and people creating their own trails. Crying or Very sad

Cedars is a great place. I'm in the Boro everyonce in a while because I have family there. I'll be in Nashville on Wed. for a Dave Matthews Band concert! Next time we go to Land Between the Lakes I'll send you a pm becuase it's only 3 hours away from you also!

Awesome, I'd really enjoy that. I have some 31's coming this weekend, so the biggest obstacle in my wheeling (stock tires) will be out of the way.
