Rolling Eyes I am getting very agrivated with the heep lately. One thing after another when I can't afford it. I have temprarily slowed the steering colum leak to a trickle for the time being but now it sounds like I have a hole in my exhaust that I can't locate (I had my exhaust manifold replaced when I had the head gasket and timing chain work done so I may bring it back to see if it's something they did) and my step rails are about to crumble along with the deterioration of my floor.

The whole thing is pretty soft at this point but the squares are the worst spots and the arrow is where I can see the ground. What are my options? Don't even say it Code....blah blah blah 99ish blah blah blah 4x4 blah blah blah V8 blah blah blah.....

I was thinkin about a street sign rivited to the floor over the 'bad' areas but what about something like "tiger hair" or bondo or something along those lines to fill the holes? What would a welder say it I walked in and said cut out my floor and weld in a new piece of metal? Is that a quick fix? I don't really care about looks obviously....

You could rivet a peice of steel over it, but the rot would still be underneath...and spreading.

The best thing would be to cut out the rot and weld in some steel to replace it. You could also rivet a new peice in with some silocone to keep the moisture out.

That's what I was thinking - you'll still have the rust underneath. Also, if you punch new holes, seal them up do you don't have additional spots for rust to start. I'm thinking you probably wouldn't have to pay too much to have somebody weld on a new panel - it's not like it's a fender or something that everybody's going to be looking at everyday. Wink

that's what I was thinking. I don't care what it looks like. I just don't want to step in one day and my foot go through the floor and slice up my beautifully peticured feet and waxed legs. that would just be devastating. I just want something functional. I am gonna make some calls this week when I have some time and see what people may be able to do for me. What a pain. I wish I could do it or knew someone that knew how to do it, but I don't so I have to pay. Confused
