When changing the shifter bezel...or indicater plate do I need anythig except the part on the top that is labled 2WD-4PT-4FT-N-4LO......I see there is a piece under there that looks like a guide for the lever.....but couldnt get it out with out removing the handle on the 4WD shift lever.

Thanks for everything....I will let you know how it goes after I do the swap this weekend. My wife is gonna be so happy, now she will be able to get in a parking spot at Wal-Mart. And maybe even get better gas milage than the 11mpg she's getting now.

Just so everybody knows......the 242 out of a 96 4.0L Grand Cherokee Laredo is a direct bolt on TC for the 97 Grand Cherokee 5.2L Limited....I put mine in on Saturday and didn't have to swap out the input shafts. Rear drive shaft fits kinda snug....I will proably have it shortened a half an inch or so.

I REALLY could use better milage cause I have to pay $6.30 per gallon shock
and I get 11-12 miles per gallon around town.

Shocked Shocked Shocked HOLY CRAP! $6.30?????
I'm paying $2.25 and I thought that was high...
Wow.. well when I first did my 242 swap, I was getting about 26-28(according to the dig. readout) but lately I haven't been getting any readings above like 18... Do you guys think it was just a fluke or the computer sorting things out, or did my gas mileage really drop that much over the last 3 months?

Puter was probobly wrong.. I have never heard of a Jeep getting more than 20 on average... Even with the 4.0..

18 sounds good to me... I get between 8 and 12... (12 being highway ....)
Confused

Damn big wheels and modified engine.. Mr. Green
