The comanche's frames are really weird the way they just tend to disapear into the underside of the cab...and actually ive noticed on my '88 theres holes up on the top of the frame that allows water into it but there arent any drainage holes, hence the water collected in them and caused some corrosion...ive welded some heavy guage steel to reinforce the majority of the frame but i was wondering if anybody had anything similar happen to them...i also noticed some very small cracks in the frame where the cab meets the bed nothing to be worried about since its all been reinforced...but am i the only one with this problem?

The Commanche's definitely unibody, like the Cherokees and Grands. This means that the body cannot be separated from the frame of the chassis, like CJs, YJs, and TJs can. The holes are harder to explain, but are probably part of the normal frame. Undercoating is supposed to resist rust under the chassis, but rock rash and other more-normal wear-and-tear can cause the undercoating to scrape off over time. A couple cans of undercoat after sanding off rust spots is a good defense.

As far as the cracks go, was the Jeep ever in an accident?

no i dont beleive so...but im almost positive it was driven really hard off road by the previous owner...i think i did a pretty good job at fixing it with some 1/4 inch steel just welded it completely around the frame where i could
