I am having problem starting my 2002 Grand Cherokee Overland. It only has a problem cranking when it has been sitting for a few hours. If i run to the store it starts right up. If I let it sit it cranks for 10 seconds and then turns over. I have already replaced the fuel pump and filter and seem to have the dealership stumped. I could really use some help. THANKS

Does that thing have a seperate fuel pressure regulator ??? Or is it built into the canister with the fuel pump??? Sounds like it might be loosing fuel pressure as it sits ..

Try getting a fuel pressure tester and put it on the rail.. YOu should be able to hold fuel pressure for at least an hour...

The dealership has replaced 2 fuel pumps, 2 fuel filters and a fuel relay. It has been in the shop 5 times. I think they are running out of ideas and i am running out of patients

Hi, is this thing still under warranty? If it is, ask for the district manager's name and call them and say you want to speak to manufacturer's rep. to get it straightened out. Don't let them say "oh well". If it's not under warranty, the 1st test is just what swampy said... get pressure guage on the fuel rail schrader valve and check it after an hour. If it's holding pressure and you still get that problem, start checking sensors, IE..crank sensor, tach sensor, anything related to the engine thinking it's not starting. I've seen one bad grounded wire cause long cranking times.Good Luck bro!
