Hey, nice forum, I tryed searching, but no one seems to have trouble getting in 4 high, just low; when in 4 hi it's like neutral, but 4 low works fine. I saw that sometimes the linkage only needs to be adjusted, but does that apply when it does go al the way to 4 low and works, but not 4 hi? Once enaged, after I did it like ten times and jiggled (which made me think it was the linkage, but how would 4low still work) ...so Im lost. Any ideas? Thanks

I would still try adjusting the linkage, mine screws up in 4 low all the time.
It wouldn't hurt to adjust it and see what happens

What kind of Jeep? Do you have a body lift?

Im in a 97, auto, with a 4.5in lift, can't have a body lift, unibody. But I will try adjusting it I guess, just I was wondering how 4 low was fine but it was 4 high that you have to shift to first was not working

Okay, since you're talking about a unibody, do you have an XJ? Does it (the transfer case) make any noise or pop out of gear? I personally would start by adjusting the shifter before tearing into it.

Sounds like to me that the shift fork has slipped the goose. You may no longer have the shift forks pads on it anymore.

Does it ever go into 4hi? can you feel it ( by hand) slide into both 4hi and net slots?
