I just replaced my starter and cps and the starter wont engage. I figure it has something to do with the starter lead wire getting a signal from the ignition when I am trying to turn the car on. Is there any way to bypass this or how does one even find the source of the problem? I know the wire from the starter lead on the starter solenoid comes up into a fuse box and then out and into the car to the steering column from the looks of it. Anyone know what I need to do to proceed with a problem like this?

TIA

Did you check for voltage on the solenoid when turning the key? Also, if the reverse/neutral safety switch is dirty (typical) it will may not start. Try pushing the shift lever all the way forward and trying again or putting it in neutral. I'm assuming this is an automatic with the previous comment.

Yea new starter just put in. I bypassed the ignition relay and the starter solenoid works just fine. I have tried putting it in N and messing with the shifter and that doesn't do anything either. Going to pull the NSS and clean it to see if taht helps.
