Have a '95 Cherokee and the valve cover gasket is leaking. Torqued to specs, but still leaking so I would like to replace it. Everything is bone stock on this 4.0. My Dad took his into the dealer to have this done (older model though) and they said they are tricky to get right.... something about the design of the valve cover/gasket. Is this true? Is there a trick I need to know? What is the best brand gasket in your modest opinions?

Any help appreciated...

Yes, it's tricky to do. The gasket keeps slipping around when setting it in place. I ended up sticking it to the cover with a very thin bead of RTV before putting the cover on the head. The coolant hoses up front also make it more difficult but don't need to be removed. I got a FelPro cork gasket.

Thanks for the info machine man. I've heard several stories about this, so I'll take your advice. If anyone else has any helpful hints that would be cool too.
