I have a 98' tj thats has the cheap looking stock steel rims on it. I believe they are 15x6. When I get new ones shouwl I get 15x7 or 15x8? A 30 inch tire is probably the largest that will ever be on it. I just wasn't sure which width would be better. Also what is the stock backspacing and should I get sometihng with the same spacing? Thanks.

i would say 8inch. because a lot of other stock jeeps come with 15X8. but i guess it depends on what ur doin. offroadin- i would say 15x8, if not i would guess x7 would be fine, i wouldnt think findin a 30x7 tire would be hard.

The steel wheels that have come on TJs are either 15x6 or 15x7. I dont know the backspacing on either. I believe the 6" wide ones only came on SE trim level on the most basic, stripped down package with some 205 tires.

I would get some 15X8's and if you are absolutly sure you are never going over 30's (Which is hard to believe..) Then go with a 4.5" Back spacing..

If you think you might one day go to 31X10.5's or 33X12.5 then get the 4" BS

I would suggest just getting the 15X8's and go ahead with 31X10.5.. They will fit on a stock TJ and look good .. And the 15X8's will still be fine for 33X12.5 in case you decide to lift and put bigger tires on in the future...
