Can anyone guess what the base price for a wrangler is in Norway?
Only available model is a 2,4 Sport. 4,0 is special order only!

If it is anything like Australia, taxes will put it about double what it would be here. Premium for a 4.0 even because of the engine size.

The answer is: 394 000nok which means 60-65 000usd!!!
A 4,0 sahara used to be about (hold on!) 600 000nok = 85 000usd!
I live in a wery sick country!

My g/f uncle lives in Amsterdam and bought a porsche in the U.S. and shipped it over there. He plans on selling it after 1 year (when his contract is up and he returns stateside). He'll actually make a profit on it selling it used Shocked

Look into purchasing one here and shipping it.

Won't matter... Once he registers it in Norway he will be taxed on it the same. It isn't so much the price of the vehicle in relation to the exchange rates and such, it is the taxes. A U.S. citizen buying a Porsche here and driving it on a temp in Amsterdam is different. It also will probably have to be modified to VAG regs before being sold there too. Granted not much since the Porsche is German built and is pretty much already Euro spec except for emissions equipment ect. which is probably ok over there anyway. A friend of mine just moved here from Australia 6 months ago to work at Microsoft and bought a M3. He told me that car there would cost about 140,000!!! It is ridiculous! 85,000 for a Sahara? That is just outrageous. Gas prices too... I don't know how people do it over there. You have to be very well off just to have a nice car. Crazy!

Jepp it's the taxes that are killing us.
The worst one when importing a car is the one on engine displacement.
4l gives a tax of 28000usd.
190hp (rubicon) = 10000usd.
Then comes weight = 13000usd.
And on top of everything there is the regular tax of 25%

Gas is an other story, 1,50usd pr. liter..
where of 75% is tax.. It will cost me 100$ to fill up my Cherokee!

A, B, and a fair C class would be about the same price.

So how do you do it in Norway? What is the quality of life?

What is the average income over there?

Do most people take public transit? Bike?
