when I am at driving speed for the engine my oil press it around or at 40, when I stop and go back down to idle my pressure drops to about 33-37 on a rough guestamet. is this just caused by the oil pump slowing down or what.

Which engine? On the 4.0L oil pressure varies from minimum 13psi to a maximum 75psi...depending on engine RPM's.

I just bought a 2000 Wrangler 4.0L with 60k miles.
Fully warm at idle it has about 22lb of pressure.
At anything above 1500rpm it has about 42lb.
This is acceptable? The 22lb low end seems a lot lower that past 4x4's I have owned. I am planning a 2k mile road trip this spring and I'd hate to seize and engine in the middle of nowhere.

This is from the 2000 FSM:
At Idle Speed 89.6 kPa (13 psi)
At 1600 rpm & Higher 255 to 517 kPa (37 to 75 psi)
Oil Pressure Relief 517 kPa (75 psi)
