Jeep wont go into overdrive...The "O/d off" light is NOT lit up and trans fluid looks good not burnt or anything filter has been changed as well as fluid all other gears are fine

any ideas? was told it was sylonoids

I was going to suggest that you press that little OD on/off button on the dash....but you've obviously already thought of that.

oh start by having it connected to one of them computers,they can tell if any sensors or the two solenoids are gone,the solenoids are about $200 (both) at the dealer and the clutch speed sensor at the tail of your tranny is about $30.

replaced the sensors...its the trans...my father works on chrysler junk and he says that im gonna need a new transmission so...anyone know where i can get a new transmission or better yet a stronger one? what about rebuilding my current one? swampy help me out man

Oh and iceland...i lost overdrive how long was it before you lost all your other gears? if yours is the same problem i am having

It all happened within a week,a friend of mine is good with transmissions,from what we read is his trouble shooting guide it's the #1 forward clutch in my case,we will remove the tranny tomorrow.

If I lived in the US I would just get a rebuilt one on ebay for under $1000 with a converter.My jeep has a 44RE trans just serch that on ebaymotors,not sure which one yours has.

My jeep has the 42 RE trans and as of right now all the other gears are fine...and i lost overdrive a couple weeks ago...im hoping i got lucky and just lost overdrive and can drive this around while i save up money for a new trans

Why don't you replace the overdrive solenoid? it's about $100?

One of the things the mechanic did to my truck was to clean all connectors on the ecu,some go from there to the transmission,the ecu gives "gound" to the solenoids.Best thing to do is have it connected to a computer and have the mechanic take it for a spin,it will most likely tell him what's wrong.
