What is a good ratio for decent mpg's at freeway speed while running 31's...32's...33's...and keeping it ok for the rocks. 4.0 xj auto.

Also I am looking at putting a econo locker on my rear dana 35 any prefrences. I m modifying my xj in an odd order. lock, lift, wheels. Im waiting to sell my 01 f150 befor i do the lift (4.5"RE) and wheels.

My ultimate plan is to build up slowly to be able to take on the Rubicon and some Sierra snow runs. Any tips/guidence/stupid mistakes to skip would be great.

I live in Stockton and am look looking for some people locally that make reguler trips to Bear Valley or Truckee. Need guidence and possible rescue.

A good gearing for 33s is either 4.10 or 4.56 and still keep your RPMs relatively low for highway driving. That gearing is a good all-round gearing for any tire over stock.

I'm not sure on lockers (I run open diffs at the moment).

I live on the complete opposite side of the country from the Rubicon, but I would suggest keeping an eye on the trail (don't get distracted from annoying passengers) and listening to your spotter.

SO 4.10 WOULD WORK FOR 31'S OR 32'S ALSO WITH A LITTLE VARIATION IN PERFORMANCE.

Yes, 4.10 should be good for 31s....RPMs will be a little higher on the Bigroad, but other than that, you should be ok.

I would suggest not putting any money into the D35. Save the cash and upgrade to something beefier. Maybe a 8.8, 9" or even a 29 slpine 8.25. 33's and a D35 really don't go together no matter what gear your running.

D35...3.07s...and 33s....no broken axle yet Finger

However, future mods are 8.8...4.56s....and 35s

Don't even jump my case about loving the D35 with 3.07s and 33s...I've already learned my lesson about that combo with the clutch. Rolling Eyes
