I got my flowmaster 50 series from a guy I work with and he had it on an 02 GC. He switched it out for a 40 series because he said its was too loud on the inside of his vehicle. So now it resides on my 94 GC with the 5.2L V8 and it rocks. Good sound without being overbearing. Of course he is in his 30s and I'm 22 so I like it to be a little loud. It also helped my fuel economy and works well with my k&n intake.

I have had so many people tell me that the 40 series is louder but the guy I bought the 50 from said that his 40 is quiter. I don't know what the deal is. I think the 50 came in two different types for different sounds. I have the one with some sort of sound channeling design or something like that. All I know is that it sounds good.

I have a Borla Catback on my Jeep. Under throttle, its about as loud as a 50 series, but it has no drone (interior resonance) like a chambered muffler (Flowmaster) does. Plus my catback is all T304 Stainless.

^It will just keep getting louder as it gets older. More and more of the packing will burn out. Not dissing your exhaust, jus take it from someone who has owned them in the past and regret it.

quick retarded question about this subject, i got a gibson stainless catback for my 01 GC I6, and its not AS loud as i wish it to be, i didnt want anything super loud to begin with but its almost too quiet. i know i could prolly just change out the muffler which is why im asking this, and there r soo many diff types of flowmaster mufflers, like offsets and sizes. anyone know the exact size and offset i'd need?
